Registrations are now open to participate in Open America, the largest and most influential open data meeting in Latin America and the Caribbean. Registration is free and will remain open until November 20. Participants, including activity proposers, must register through the event’s website: americaaberta.org/en.
For the first time in Brazil, the event will bring together experts, research professionals, and leaders from government and civil society to discuss and promote the use of open data, transparency, access to information, open government, and other topics in the region. It will take place from December 3 to 6, 2024, at the Serzedello Corrêa Institute in Brasília.
The Open America program will include the following national and international events among its tracks:
- Abrelatam: Open Meeting for an Open Region
- Condatos: Open Data Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean
- Coda.Br: Brazilian Conference on Data Journalism and Digital Methods
- Data Week BR: Data-focused meeting centered on Brazil
- Open Government Meeting: Focused on the region’s challenges such as digital governance, civic space, inclusion and social participation, and anti-corruption.
Local and international organization
Open America 2024 is supported by major local and international institutions. The Local Organizing Committee consists of Open Knowledge Brasil, the Office of the Comptroller General, the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br), and the Development and Participation Lab (Colaboratório) at USP.
International partners include the Organization of American States (OAS), the Latin American Open Data Initiative (ILDA), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Open Government Partnership (OGP), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
Among its sponsors and supporters are Apex Brasil, Jusbrasil, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Instituto Serzedello Corrêa.
