BRASÍLIA, DF – BRASIL
From December 3rd to 6th, 2024
Side events
Open America will be held in Brasília from December 3 to 6. In addition to the main agenda, partners, including governments, national and international civil society organizations, and multilateral organizations, have the opportunity to hold side events such as workshops, consultations, private meetings, and other activities parallel to the main event.
Partners interested in organizing these side events should consult the following guidelines and submit their event information by October 20 to be included in the side events agenda, which will be published on the event website and promoted by the event organizers. Additionally, the deadline for requests for rooms provided by the host is October 4.
Requirements for side events
- Themes and format: We invite side event organizers to align with the themes of Open America and focus on tangible outcomes that benefit the open government and data community, such as exchanging ideas, peer learning, and exploring new approaches to reforms. We also recommend prioritizing creative and interactive formats that promote dynamic discussions and consider post-event follow-up.
- Inclusion in the agenda: To avoid conflicts with the main Open America events, it is suggested that side events be held on Monday, December 2, or Friday afternoon, December 6. Only events scheduled on those days will be published in the Open America agenda. Submit a request for your event to be included in the agenda before October 20 at contato@2024.abrelatam.org with the subject: [SIDE EVENTS].
- Limited room availability: The host will provide a limited number of rooms for side events on Monday, December 2, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Open America venue, Instituto Serzedello Corrêa (St. de Clubes Esportivos Sul Trecho 3 – Brasília). Please send your room request by October 4 to contato@2024.abrelatam.org with the subject: [SIDE EVENTS ROOM]. Room availability will be confirmed by the organizers by October 11.
- Logistical support: Rooms provided by the organization will include furniture, sound, and screens. Simultaneous interpretation will not be provided.
- Diversity: Side events should reflect the diversity of the open government community. They are expected to maintain gender, racial, and sectoral balance (government, civil society, and other stakeholders) and country representation when relevant.
- The organizers reserve the right to accept or reject events following the thematic and diversity requirements established by Open America.
